This Privacy Policy explains how CampusLife ("CampusLife," "we," "us"), an app operated by an independent developer (CampusLife is not an incorporated entity), collects, uses, shares, and protects your information in the CampusLife mobile app (the "Service"). We will post any material changes here and update the date above; significant changes will also be surfaced in the app.
Plain-language summary: A college student logs a short daily wellbeing check-in; a parent the student chooses to link with can see those check-ins and trends over time. We treat your wellbeing data as sensitive health information. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use third-party analytics or tracking. You can delete your account and all of your data at any time, from within the app.
CampusLife is not a health or medical service. It is a private self-reflection and wellbeing journal — not a healthcare or medical app, not a medical device, and not a crisis or emergency service. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition, does not provide medical, psychological, or psychiatric advice, and no clinician or other professional reviews, monitors, or responds to your entries. We protect your wellbeing entries carefully and treat them as sensitive health-related data, but that protection does not make CampusLife a healthcare provider, and you should not rely on it for any health, medical, or safety decision. Your use of CampusLife is governed by our Terms of Service, including its medical disclaimer, its "as is" / no-warranty terms, and its limitation of liability.
CampusLife is operated by an independent developer and is the data controller for the information described here. The fastest way to reach us, including for any privacy request, is by email: campuslifefeedback@gmail.com. [If you later serve EU/UK users, you may need to designate an EU/UK representative.]
We practice data minimization: we only collect what's needed to provide the Service. We do not collect location, contacts, advertising identifiers, or biometric data, and we do not buy data about you from third parties.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, automated decision-making, or any unrelated purpose. We will not repurpose data collected for one feature without your further consent.
Where the GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we rely on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) to operate the Service, and on your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)) to process your wellbeing data, which is special-category health data. You may withdraw consent at any time (see Your Rights); withdrawing consent means we can no longer provide the Service and you can delete your account.
CampusLife is built around a consensual link. When a student joins a family using a parent's invite code, the student's wellbeing entries and trends become visible to that linked parent. This is opt-in (it only happens when the student enters the code) and revocable. A parent in the family can also remove a member. We never enable secret or non-consensual monitoring.
We share your information only with service providers that process it on our behalf, under contracts requiring them to protect it and use it only for us:
We do not sell or "share" (as defined by California law) your personal information, do not disclose it for cross-context behavioral advertising, do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and do not provide it to data brokers. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety, and in connection with a business transfer (with notice).
Your data is stored and processed by our hosting provider, Supabase, on cloud infrastructure (data may reside in the United States or another region depending on our configuration). If you access the Service from another country, your information will be transferred and processed where Supabase hosts it; where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. We do not retain personal data indefinitely. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time, from within the app: Profile → Delete account. Deletion removes your account, your wellbeing entries, and your family link, and removes your entries from any linked parent's view. If you cannot access the app, email campuslifefeedback@gmail.com from your account email to request deletion (web deletion request: campuslife legal site → Delete your account). Backups containing residual data are purged on our routine backup cycle.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access a copy of your data; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to processing; data portability; withdraw consent (including for sensitive/health data) at any time; opt out of sale/sharing/targeted advertising (we do none of these); not be subject to solely-automated decisions (we make none); non-discrimination for exercising your rights; and to appeal a denied request. To exercise any right, use the in-app controls or email campuslifefeedback@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority (EEA/UK) or attorney general (US states).
We protect your data with encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted on-device storage of session credentials, and row-level access controls that restrict each family's data to that family. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
CampusLife is intended for users 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 (and specifically anyone under 13, as defined by COPPA). If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, contact campuslifefeedback@gmail.com and we will delete it.
We collect the categories described in Section 2, including sensitive personal information (health-related wellbeing data). We use it only to provide the Service (Section 3), retain it as described in Section 8, and do not sell or share it or use sensitive information beyond what's necessary to provide the Service. California residents may exercise the rights in Section 9, including the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information; residents of other US states with privacy laws have comparable rights, including the right to appeal.
Your wellbeing data may qualify as "consumer health data." We collect it only with your consent to provide the Service, do not sell it, and do not share it except with the service providers in Section 6 and with the parent you choose to link with. [If you have or target Washington (My Health My Data Act) or Nevada users, a separate, standalone Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy may be required — confirm with counsel.]
